Local Filipino Games

  Remember those days you get scolded by your Parents whenever you return home dirty because of playing outside the whole day? And remember those games that we all love before video games and other technology arises?


Here are the following local filipino games that we all love:


1."Pantintero

This is One of the famous games back in the old days.it is often played and can be played anywhere as long as the area is wide, where you'll play in groups.in this game there are two types of team Players. The Passers team  need to pass the lines without getting tagged to attain points for every line they passed and the defense team guards within the lines so no passers shall pass and tags the Passers if they try to go through. this game is tiring but it sure was fun to deceive your opponents just to get pass them.

2."Tumbang Preso"

This game is very common, its just that it's 1 vs all that makes it interesting.
it requires 1can and 1slipper on top for the "IT" Player  and 1slipper they called "PAMATO" for every each throwing player. To make the game more exciting it should only consist of 9 players. If you're IT then Goodluck because you're gonna need it. The rules are simple, The IT guards the can and stand it back again when knockdown then tagged the players that already thrown their Pamato  trying to retrieve it and  the throwing players should aim and knockdown the can and retrieve their Pamato safely without getting tagged by the IT or else it will replace the IT. 

3."Piko"

Piko comes in many forms, It is also a Pinoy version of Hopscotch. Back then almost every pinoy kids know how to play it. Either drawn on cement with a chalk or drawn on the ground.  Players choose a small rock ,coin or any other small things to be used for its "PAMATO". Only hops and skips are allowed either left or right foot used to step on the box drawn, Whoever successfully throws and retrieves its stone wins.

4."Chinese Garter"

This is Popular among female youngsters. This game consist of 1 long garter and 2 teams to function. The garter starts lower to the Floor, each playing team has to jump to cross the other side. on every successful jumps, The garter moves higher and higher. The other team only gets to play when one of the playing team jumps unsuccessfully.

5."Sawsaw Suka"

This is a chanting game, wherein an index finger is being dipped on an open palm while chanting the  song "sawsaw suka /Mahuli taya" when the song ends, the IT will close its palm and capture the finger. if the players finger is captured, it will replace the it.

6."Teks"

A card game liked mostly by male youngsters. Cards printed with any cartoon design and printed in a standard size. Players will set bets, then the player's card will hit the other player's card. if both card lands and facing the same then the players bet will remain theirs.

7."Luksong Baka"

This is a jumping game similar to "Chinese garter" but instead of garter, The IT player crouches making him the obstacle while the other players jump. Every level the players jumps successfully, the IT player slowly stands up. as the IT player slowly stands up , the more difficult for other player to jump over.
if ever the players touch the "Baka" (IT Player) as they jump, they will replace the Baka. And the game will repeatedly go on until the players gets tired.

8."Holens/Jolens"

A marble game that is popular especially to boys. It is where they aim then throw or flick the marble through their fingers to hit marbles inside the circle and whatever they strike out will be theirs. they can also get rid of other players by aiming and hitting his marble. The two ways of winning this game is either attain most of the marble from the circle or by eliminating opponents.

9."Tagu-Taguan"

A hiding and seeking type of game wherein at the start of the game, The seeker must first sing the song of the game while the other players hide before the seeker seeks them. the first one found will be the next to seek. often played during the day but it is best to play it at nightfall because it is more challenging and at the same time exciting. And This game never gets old, up until know it is still played by youngsters and even adults.

10"Sipa"

 The object that is used in this game is called sipa. This is a kick to kick (sipa sa sipa) game hence the name of the game is called SipaSipa is made out of  washer with colorful thread or a Tasan with a coin inside and a Plastick straw attached to it. sipa is tossed in the air by foot, a player must maintain the Sipa in the air by kicking it and not letting it hit the ground. Whilst kicking the Sipa the players must count how many times they successfully kicked it because the one with the most counted kicks wins. 



These are Games that we all love and made our childhood Awesome.
